a place for everyone

Whatever your age and stage, there is a welcoming place for you here!

Nursery

Our nursery is a comfy and inviting space for our youngest of friends! We offer volunteer care during both the Sunday School hour and Sunday Worship.

Children

Sunday Morning is Kid's Quest! Each week, from 10-10:50am, we offer age-appropriate classes for preschoolers through fifth graders.
  • Pathfinders   Ages 0-4 (nursery), led by Morgan Horn.
  • Explorers      PreK-2nd grades, led by Helen Smith.
  • Trailblazers  3rd-5th grades, led by Joyce Mitchell and Linda Street.

Children’s Worship: We welcome children of all ages into Sunday worship. Children are an important part of our church family, and their presence enhances service for us all while helping them begin to learn a pattern of worship. After Children’s Time, we invite them to leave the sanctuary for continued, age-appropriate worship activities.

Children in Action: Once a month, our children spend the whole of our worship hour learning about Christ through service by gathering, sorting and bagging food for our pantry.

Vacation Bible School: Each summer our VBS Team puts together an amazing week of fun and learning!

We also host a few special, family event throughout the year – trips to Kings Dominion, family nights, holiday events and others.

Youth

Youth Group: Taylorsville’s youth, both Middle and High schoolers, gather for FIRST FRIDAY'S on the first Friday of each month from 7-10:30pm. We begin with dinner then either chill with a movie and games or go out for an adventure. Aiming for a blend of faith formation, positive self-care, team building and a dab of silliness, programming ranges from darts and Foosball in our youth room to wacky mini-golf outings and special contests to relevant teen talks and even youth worship. Every few months we participate in mission projects for our church or in the wider community.

Youth Luncheons: On 3rd Sunday's, the youth gather at 10am to prepare and serve lunch following service. These benefit our mission trip(s).

Sunday Mornings: Each week, from 10-10:50am, we encourage our youth to either assist with a Kid's Quest class or join the Traveler's Bible Study.

Mission Week: Every summer our youth attend Passport Camp for a week. The mission-minded program offers campers 5 (very full) days of daily on-site mission work, bible study, worship and activities. It’s a powerful week attended by nearly all our youth, and some friends. Throughout the year, we host special lunches and activities as fundraisers to support this program.

Also, keep an eye out for special, seasonal events and news from our Youth Minister, Melissa Miller.

Adult & Senior Classes

Sunday Morning is The Pursuit: Each week, from 10-10:50am, we offer three adult bible study classes.
  • Travelers This topically-focused, all-ages group will enjoy, question, study and experience the intersection of life and faith in new ways, led by Melissa Miller or Ted Dougherty. Study sessions in 2018-19 will include: Lesser Known Bible Characters, Gratefulness, Theology Basics, Imagining Christ and Experiencing the Lord’s Prayer.
  • Disciples A combined bible study for men and women, this joint-class follows a traditional curriculum style of study and discussion, led by David Street and Janice Tudor.

Occasionally, special study opportunities are created! In March 2019, Pastor Ted will lead a church-wide book study on I Am A Church Member by Thom Rainer. Coffee and nibbles will be provided each week in the Fellowship Hall.

Also: "Opening Exercises", updates and prayer requests, begins at 9:50am in the Sanctuary.

Music Ministry

Picture
Taylorsville's choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings. In addition to weekly anthems and choral worship calls, the choir prepares special music for holidays. On Sunday's we gather just before worship for warm-up and run-through. We welcome all who want to join us in joyful song!

Together, our Music Director Debbie Taylor, Organist Betsy “Tinkle” Hawkins, Pianist Janet Stanley, and choir lead us lyrically through worship.

Feed My Sheep Ministry

Through the Feed My Sheep ministry project, we serve 50+ families (including 150+ family members) on a monthly basis. Our food bags are stocked and picked up (occasionally delivered) to local families experiencing crisis and hardship. We collect items weekly near our Fellowship Hall. Donations welcome weekly! Right now, our food pantry could use the following items: peanut butter, jelly, cereal/oatmeal, mac and cheese, canned fruit, spaghetti and sauce, canned veggies.

Connections!

A new church-wide initiative to provide more opportunities for fellowship, family and learning. Each week we send an email reviewing upcoming events, programs, missions and any current prayer list updates. There are also periodic Connections events - Some will include meals and conversation at the church, others will focus on family-friendly outings. Keep an eye on our calendar and weekly Connections emails for more details.
